What is a Stagehand?

The primary role of a Stagehand is to assist in the setup, maintenance, and dismantling of equipment and sets on a film production. This can involve tasks such as moving props, operating equipment, adjusting lighting, and assisting with special effects.

They must also be able to follow instructions accurately, work well under pressure, and adapt quickly to changing situations on set. Prior experience in stage management, technical theater, or other production roles can be beneficial for aspiring Stagehands.

While a formal college education is not always required to become a Stagehand, some positions may prefer candidates with a certificate or associate's degree in related fields such as theater production, technical theater, or film production. Alternatively, relevant work experience or on-the-job training can also be valuable for aspiring Stagehands.
