Saturation Achieves SOC 2 Type 2 Compliance

Saturation, the production budgeting and financial management platform used by thousands of film, television, and commercial productions, today announced it has achieved SOC 2 Type 2 certification. The milestone follows our SOC 2 Type 1 certification from January 2026 and our SOC 1 Type 1 certification from April 2026.
What SOC 2 Type 2 means for your production
Opening a budget in Saturation means you are trusting us with the most sensitive document on the production. Talent deals and financier terms are in the numbers. Vendor banking details and contractor payment records sit alongside them. The cost reports drawn from all of it reach studios and financiers who should each see their piece and nothing more. That trust is what Saturation is built on, and protecting it shapes every decision we make about the platform.
Security, for us, is not a feature we bolted on later. It is the architecture: least-privilege access by default, every permission scoped to a role, every action written to an audit trail, and encryption applied to production data in transit and at rest. SOC 2 is the benchmark for how a platform protects sensitive customer data, measured against the AICPA's Trust Services Criteria, and our certification covers the Security category, which governs who gets into a workspace, what they can reach once inside, and how the platform is monitored and maintained around them. SOC 2 Type 2 confirms it independently: an auditor examined our systems, processes, and safeguards and verified that they are secure and operating as intended.
For the teams using Saturation, here is what this means for you:
- Your budget stays yours. Access controls, enterprise SSO, and multi-factor authentication keep a financier out of a payroll record and a vendor out of a budget. An auditor has now tested that those boundaries hold in daily use, not just on paper.
- The vetting is already done. No production department should have to audit its own software. An independent CPA firm has done that work.
- The bar is continuous. This is not a badge we hang up and forget. It commits us to operating these controls every day, and to being examined on them again.
Building on our security milestones
This is the third SOC certification Saturation has earned in under a year, and underneath all three the security program has not changed: TLS 1.2+ in transit and AES-256 at rest, role-based access controls, enterprise SSO, multi-factor authentication, annual third-party penetration testing, continuous vulnerability scanning, and full audit trail visibility. The whole program is documented at saturation.io/security.
Our customers hand us the most sensitive numbers on their production and trust that they stay private. Protecting that is a commitment we work at every day, in how the platform is built and in how our team operates. SOC 2 Type 2 means an independent auditor has verified it holds, so you do not have to just take our word for it.

FAQs
Is Saturation SOC 2 Type 2 certified?
Yes. Saturation achieved SOC 2 Type 2 certification following an examination by an independent CPA firm, covering the Security category of the AICPA Trust Services Criteria.
What is the difference between SOC 2 Type 1 and SOC 2 Type 2?
A Type 1 certification assesses whether controls are designed correctly. A Type 2 certification goes further and tests whether those controls actually operated effectively over a sustained period.
How do I get a copy of the report?
