What does a Stunts do?

A Stunt performer, commonly known as a stuntman or stuntwoman, is an integral part of the film crew in the Stunts Department. Stunts involve performing risky and thrilling actions in front of the camera to create exciting and realistic scenes in movies, television shows, and other forms of media. These actions may include high falls, fights, car chases, fire stunts, and other dangerous maneuvers. What role does a Stunts play?

They work closely with the Stunt coordinator and the Director to plan and rehearse stunts, ensuring that they align with the vision of the production. Stunt performers may also be required to double for actors in certain scenes, matching their physical appearance and performing stunts on their behalf. They undergo extensive training and practice to perfect their techniques, often working with specialized equipment and safety measures.

Do you need to go to college to be a Stunts?

While a formal college education is not mandatory for a career in stunts, it can be beneficial to gain relevant knowledge and skills. Some stunt performers choose to pursue degrees or certifications in disciplines such as sports science, physical education, or acting to enhance their abilities. Additionally, training programs and workshops specifically designed for stunts are available, providing comprehensive instruction in disciplines like martial arts, acrobatics, and aerial work.
