Principal photography ran from January to March 2022, entirely in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Shooting a Christmas film in Manitoba across those months meant the production worked through a genuine prairie winter, and it kept an entire estate siege, built around practical stunt work and a large ensemble, inside a single city. Universal premiered the finished film at New York Comic Con on October 7, 2022, then released it on December 2, 2022 into 3,682 theatres, where it opened to $13,450,240 in second place.
